As part of Hornford Associates Linux - Open Source Focus we are constantly looking for Open Source alternatives. With the release of Nvu it was time to look at an Open Source graphical web editor.
Nvu Review was written for a nonprofessional web developer. The nonprofessional web developer is expected to have a mandate to create the company web-site, comfort with 'publishing and design' concepts. We expect this person to have a light understanding of HTML and CSS, and to rely on the graphical tool to show what the web site will look like and provide guidance through the creation of the site.
Our point of comparison is Adobe GoLive CS2 and Dreamweaver. For the purposes of this review we worked on our July 2005 web site enhancement using Nvu.
